On Tuesday, June 3rd our Grade 8 students visited the village of Bresje

Grade 8 Community and Service Trip to Bresje

On Tuesday, June 3rd our Grade 8 students visited the village of Bresje for the second time. We had already visited Bresje earlier in the year and the purpose of this vist was to clean up a local creek and spring and plant trees in an area to be used by the students of a local elementary school. Unfortunately due to the floods that hit Serbia in the past weeks, the cleanup of the creek was deemed unsafe. Nevertheless, we went on to the local elementary school and helped in the maintenance of the school yard. Our hosts in the Dilkic household were exceptional and we hope to come back next year with the new generation of Grade 8s when we will work on a bigger and better project.

Ipak, otišli smo do lokalne osnovne škole i pomogli u održavanju školskog dvorišta.

March 19th ISB CAS in Bresje

CAS Corner

Dear ISB Community,

We had a very interesting week of Community and Service, as we spent a day on a real farm in central Serbia. On Wednesday, March 19th our Grade 8 students visited a farm in the village of Bresje approximately 80 km southeast of Belgrade. The purpose of our trip was to experience a day in a sustainable rural environment and think about ways in which we could contribute to this specific community. For the day, our students spent time working in the garden, tending to livestock, doing household chores and enjoying the beautiful, serene environment that Bresje had to offer. For some of our students this was a first encounter with a rural community. Our hosts were wonderful and exceeded all of our expectations. We hope to come back later on in the year and clean up the trash from a local creek. We would also like to extend our invitations to any parents or other community members that would like to join us in this project.

Sincerely,
Vladimir Stanojlovic
CAS Coordinator
